Jail Needs Assessment
In 2019, the regulating agency for county jails, the Tennessee Corrections Institute, informed the County that the current facility was going to soon be unsuitable to house inmates due to the age of the facility and new security standards. It was recommended that the County conduct a jail needs assessment to determine what size facility and classification of beds would be needed into the future. The Jail Consultant for the University of Tennessee's County Technical Assistance Service performed the assessment and submitted the Trousdale County Jail Needs Assessment Report to the County in June 2020. The report concluded that a total of 105 beds would be needed. The report was reviewed by the County Corrections Partnership Committee on July 15, 2021.
