The Register is responsible for collecting fees for registering all documents. The fees vary based on the type, length and conveyance of the document. The Register is also responsible to collect taxes on the sale of real estate. The Register also collects taxes on recordings which evidence a debt. This includes mortgages, conditional sales contracts and fixture filings under the Uniform Commercial Code.
